Measuring Psychoanalytic Work and Benefit: The Analytic Process Scales (APS) Sherwood Waldron, Jr., M.D. (follow link to Research Division) This group has developed reliable rating scales for assessing the contributions of patient and analyst to the analytic work. We are now completing a larger scale study of the process and outcome of three analyses, as assessed by the APS applied to recorded psychoanalytic sessions divided into segments. This permits the study of what interventions under what circumstances facilitate the analysis. In collaboration with another group we are developing outcome measures as well. Those interested may participate by rating recorded sessions and then comparing scores with colleagues. Meetings are twice monthly, generally the first and third Wednesdays.
Study Group on Psychoanalytic Practice A small group of analysts meets monthly to discuss case material. Membership is limited.
Study Group on Groups and Group Processes A small group of analysts and non-analysts meet bi-monthly to discuss possible relationships between group formation and the human family. The discussions are based on clinical data, readings, historical phenomena and research reports. Membership is limited but inquiries are welcome. Please call Dr. Balter.
Study Group on the Kleinian School and the work of Wilfred Bion Rogelio Sosnik, M.D. (by invitation) The group has previously worked on papers by Melanie Klein, Hanna Segal, and Betty Joseph. The group is currently studying the work of Wilfred Bion.

Pacella, M.D. Parent Child Center observational/research nursery are presented and discussed. Data presented by participants in other observational and/or research infancy groups is welcome.
